Workshop Description
Have you wanted to expand into Black & White Photography? Maybe you have done a little, and really want to take your photography to the next level. I have conducted Black & White focused workshops for 7 years at different locations across the word, and the results that photographers see in their work, is inspiring. For 2027, we will return to Death Valley NP to host our BW Workshop, which has an incredibly diverse landscape for learning.
Black & White photography is more than just converting an image to BW or using a filter to enhance an image that is not working in color. These thoughts come from the digital age, have been taught to us over recent years, and are simply outdated.
Approaching your subject with the intent to create a work of art by photographing in Black & White is what you will learn. I will teach you, behind the lens, how to photograph by the light, what to look for in the landscape and nature that can make a compelling image, and work with you intensely on bringing your images to life with processing techniques. This intense, creative workshop is fun, challenging and rewarding. Hope to see you there!
Itinerary
DAY 1 FEB 21
7:00pm Meet & Greet
DAY 2-4 FEB 22-24
Each day we will have 2-3 photo sessions, plus class sessions where we focus on processing, artistry and learning to photograph differently.
DAY 5 FEB 25
We will have our final morning photo session of the trip. Workshop concludes 11:00am
We like to dine together as a group. Death Valley NP has several restaurants, shops and gas station on the property.

Lodging is not included - group booking code is provided after registration for discounted rates
A National Park Pass is required and can be purchased upon entry
Transportation is not included in the workshop fee - most photographers ride-share to photo locations
Meals are not included in the workshop fee - we like to dine as a group to discuss the day’s events and be on hand for any questions

FITNESS LEVEL EASY>MODERATE
You must be in general good health to successfully participate in this workshop. Most trails and field sessions are considered easy. Certain Sand Dunes are considered moderate. You should be able to walk and carry your own equipment up to 1-mile round trip and carry your own camera equipment.
