Stonehenge and the Cotswolds Workshop Review

Hello Friends,

I have done many workshops over the years, and traveled to so many incredible locations. This last workshop to England, was by far the most inspiring and magical workshop we have ever done. To stand in front of, and in between, the rocks of Stonehenge for a sunset and a sunrise, with no other people, was truly an experience to remember.

Our First Stonehenge Sunset

We were well prepared, and rehearsed for the shot of a lifetime. When the moment came, we stood in awe, took a deep breath, and lived in the moment. What an amazing experience to share with friends! In fact, we visited and photographed so many historic locations and English Gardens during the week, that we all walked away with an entire gallery of images.

Glastonbury, the 7th century ruins are said to be the burial site of King Arthur and Merlin. Many people speculate that it was once the location of the Holy Grail.

The Cotswolds were filled with winding streets, beautiful doors, windows and English Gardens. After spending several years working in this area of Somerset, I got to know the area very well. We walked the footpaths, explored the villages, and captured the most charming locations in England.

We also visited and photographed the famous Sudeley Tudor Castle which was home to 3 queens of Henry VIII including Ann Boleyn, Katherine Parr and Elizabeth 1. This location turned out to be one of the most amazing photo opportunities due to the diversity of gardens, chapel, ruins, tudor home and of course, the history.

We visited Avebury, Glastonbury Tor, Hailes Abbey and about 25 other historic locations. Weather was perfect, flowers were blooming, the group was soaring with creativity and enthusiasm.

But the best of the trip, was the return morning to Stonehenge. We arrive to a layer of fog that hovered over the stones. Our second private session was more magical than any of us could have hoped for, and it just kept getting better.

The fog hung low to the ground, the sun began to rise and peak through the stones. The light on the exterior of the rocks was stunning, and then we once again walked in the center, where only few people will ever visit. The light came through the stones as if it were marking a calendar, lighting a chart over the course of time, and we again gasped as we clicked our shutters to capture our final shot.
