“I am small at the base of these mountains, but I am strong”
British Columbia | Canadian Rockies
To stand at the base of the Canadian Rockies is humbling, I hope my photography is worthy of them
As I stand at the base of these mountains, I am small, yet I feel powerful. The Canadian Rockies are breathtaking, and the power they resonate is infectious. The Canadian Rockies are grand, dramatic mountains that stretch far above the clouds. They are covered in endless forests and tower over the base of turquoise lakes that reflect the mountains themselves. This bountiful creation in nature possess such beauty, that every season is transformed into a masterpiece for the camera and for our hearts.
The mountains are wild, majestic and deeply inspiring, and provide visitors with a sense of peace, but mostly wonder. Standing before such majestic beauty, with my feet at the base of the mountain, I look up to the sky only to see mountain. They glow with sunlight, and merge into the sky above. The silence at first is deafening, but soon filled with chirps and swooshes, the streams and lakes come alive, the fish are jumping, the birds migrate from tree to tree creating a forest song. Every river is fed by the mountain after the winter snow melts, and green begins to cover the valley floor. Wildflowers emerge and attract the deer and bear each summer. I am speechless from the beauty.
A part of me remains in the mountains, and I find that part of myself each time I return. The experience is an awakening of my sense, and my sense of self. Nature is powerful, beautiful, frightening, and calming. The mountains connect us to nature, and we become one.
