Imagine standing on a black sand beach while the blue and clear ice washes up on the shore with the tide. This is always a photographer’s favorite experience while they visit this place of wonder. Now imagine photographing the aurora at the glacier lagoon. We have timed our workshop over the new moon to provide us with the best opportunity to experience and photograph these lights. This workshop is designed to immerse you with glaciers, ice and lights, all while staying in comfort, close to the Glacier Lagoon..

ITINERARY

DEPARTURE DAY FROM U.S.
Sunday, September 29

DAY ONE: MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 30
You will arrive at the Reykjavik International Airport (KEF). Most flights do arrive early in the morning from the U.S.
You will be transported in a private shuttle to the Reykjavik Domestic Airport and board your flight to Höfn located on the east coast of Iceland. We will transport you to your 4-Star Superior Hotel located only 15 miles from the Glacier Lagoon. We will have an early Welcome Dinner so that we can be ready for any Northern Lights that appear.

DAY 2-6: TUESDAY - SATURDAY, OCTOBER 1-5
We will immerse ourselves in this beautiful location filled with ice, black sand and glaciers. We will visit the 2 glacier lagoons in Iceland, and spend our dark hours watching for northern lights. You can rest while we watch for them. We will knock on your door when the lights appear.

DAY 7: SUNDAY, OCTOBER 6
We will photograph our final sunrise along the Diamond Coast, followed by breakfast. We will depart our hotel at 12:00pm and take you back to the Höfn Airport for your 3:30pm flight back to Reykjavik. From there, your private shuttle will return you back to the KEF International Airport.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION
While most flights arrive at KEF early in the morning, should your flight arrive later in the day, we recommend a night early. We will happily assist you in booking the extra night if needed. As for the return flight, you should plan an evening return flight back to the U.S after 7:00pm. If your flight schedules are tight, you may want to consider departing on Monday, October 7, 2024.

If for any reason the domestic flights between Reykjavik and Höfn are canceled or delayed, we will transport you in our transit van.

• 6-nights lodging at a 4-Star Superior Hotel located only 15 miles from the Diamond Coast and Glacier Lagoon.

• Includes domestic flight from Reykjavik Domestic Airport to Höfn Regional Airport.

• Private shuttle with participants between KEF International airport and Reykjavik Domestic Airport - round trip.

• Group transportation throughout the workshop.

• Professional guidance and instruction for all field sessions.

• Processing Class

*Breakfast is included with your lodging. However, if we photograph longer than breakfast hours, breakfast in town will be your financial responsibility. Other meals are not included in the workshop fee. However, we do like to dine as a group so that we are accessible for questions.

If you plan to attend both the Iceland Waterfalls and the Diamond Coast Photo Workshops, we will arrange for the night in-between the 2 workshops so that you are comfortable and happy.

• Trip Insurance
  Please read in full our Cancellation and Refund Policy prior to registration. Trip insurance is required for this workshop.

• Single Supplement Fee
  Workshop fee is based on double occupancy. If you would like a private room, please advise us after registration. The single supplement fee is $1200.

• Gratuity

  While lodging is included in your workshop fee, you are responsible for gratuity paid to housekeeping (Average of $3-$5 per day), guides, and drivers.

ADD-ONS: AERIAL TOUR

• If you are interested in flying over the glaciers in a small plane and photographing, please let us know. These small planes can hold 2 photographers. 2022 rates were $1800 for roughly an hour session. Please note that we will assist you in booking, and advise you of current costs prior to confirmation. We will provide thorough photo instruction for your aerial tour if you choose to book this add-on.
