“Places only imaginable in my dreams”

Yosemite | Mono Lake | Alabama Hills

Yosemite is calling and I must go, my camera feels light, my heart inspired, my photography begins

The Eastern Sierra Mountains are an amazing place to photograph and explore. I have spent a great deal of time just wandering, getting to know the landscape, the unique qualities of this area. Yosemite is breathtaking, every day. When nature is dramatic, it can produce a sense that makes me feel overwhelmed. Each of my senses are heightened, where do I point my camera? I have witnessed clouds pouring over El Capitan, the valley fill with fog before my eyes, and snow fall and cover the trees to create a winter wonderland that keeps my camera in motion. Mono Lake on the other side of the Sierra’s is such a unique location. Tufa’s jet out of the lake to create a surreal, lunar-like landscape which has produced some of my favorite images. Bodie Ghost Town exists here, and is a testament to a life past, a living history that once existed in these hills are now threatened with wildlfire each year. It is our responsibility to preserve it through our photographs. Alabama Hills is unique with its rock formations that look like they just dropped from the sky. The tall golden grasses create a softness to this harsh environment that is beautiful to the lens.
